Because our market schedule changes season to season, I send an email a few days before we attend with some information about what we will have. Even if you are not local, the email is the best way to know about new yarns, new colors or other events.

If you are interested in being added to the email list, just send me an email and let me know:

Dupont Circle FreshFarm Market, Washington DC

The Dupont farmers market is open year round on Sunday mornings. The hours during the Regular season are from 9 am to 1 pm. Look for us on the street. We return to the market on September 12th and will be there every Sunday (weather permitting) except September 26th (see Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival below).

The Dupont FreshFarm Market is great! It is a producer only market, open year round and you will find high quality produce, meat, cheese, flowers...etc. If you would like more information about it, or other FreshFarm markets in DC, visit their web site.

FreshFarm Market by the White House, Washington DC

A great downtown FreshFarm market on Thursday afternoons, 3pm to 7pm. Located on Vermont Ave. between H & I streets, right at the McPherson Square Metro stop. We don’t know where we will be so look all over the market for us (it’s just one block). Our fall schedule is: September 16th and 30th; October 14th, 21st and 28th and November 4th, 11th and 18th.

Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival, September 25th-26th, 2010

We have a double booth at the festival in the Ruritan building. This is an opportunity to see (and touch) all our yarns at once.

Located in Berryville, VA, The SVFF is an easy drive from Washington. A smaller, more relaxed fiber festival, that is growing. The festival features 80 plus vendors, a juried fleece sale (Sue and I are both jurors), classes (more below), lots of llamas, a sheep breeds exhibit, rabbit show, wine tasting, and this year a fleece to scarf competition. Check the festival website for more information: www.svfiberfest.com

Two of the classes this year will feature our yarns: a knitting class sponsored by the Loudoun Valley Sheep Producers and taught by Lyn King: a Child’s Aran Knit Jacket. The jacket was designed by Lyn King and is knitted in different weights of yarn resulting in different sizes. Techniques will include how to do a cable, cardigan shaping, picking up stitches for the collar, basic shaping and sewing the jacket together. The class is taught in two parts, the first on Friday Sept. 24th in the evening and the second on Sunday Sept. 26th.

The other class featuring our yarn is Introductory Weaving, taught by Beth Wilson. It is designed for the true novice weaver. Learn the basics of weaving and come away with a beautiful scarf. Three classes are available: one on Friday, one Saturday and one Sunday.

Registration for either class is through Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival (link to their web site is above).

Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival, May 1-2, 2010

We are really looking forward to the festival (of course!). We have a new location this year: Outside North N26. At least on paper, it looks like you can walk in the main gate and walk straight up the paved path and keep going until you walk right into our tent.

Now that the wicked winter is over we have the dye pots full and are getting several new types of yarn ready to bring to the festival. We think that there will be at least a couple of blankets entered into the skein and garment compettition made with Solitude yarn...

Homespun Yarn Party, Sunday, March 21, 2010

Our first time at this event...and it sounds really fun. Besides lots of local yarn vendors there will be free lessons for knitting, crochet, spinning etc.; door prizes and time to sit and knit or spin with folks. Admission is free. At the Historic Savage Mill (8600 Foundry Street, Savage MD 20763) just off I-95, plenty of parking. Hours are from 12pm to 5pm. Check
