Shropshire baby S2109

Fiber farms: Temple Hall Farm Regional Park in Loudoun County, Virginia. Shropshire is a hardy English breed raised for both meat and wool, rare here in the US. The fleece is a Down type fiber
Fiber content: 85% wool, 15% nylon
Yarn character/design: woolen spun, 2-ply, baby weight, 15 wraps per inch. This springy Down-type wool is perfect for a baby yarn, lots of cushion, elasticity, not irritating and won’t felt. The added nylon makes the yarn both stronger and more washable. Finished knitting will shrink one direction moderately in the washing machine…but not so much as other wools.
Skein sizes: small; 120 yds/109 meters, 1.5 oz./42 grams large: 240 yds/219 meters, 3.1 oz./87 grams
Suggested needle sizes: 4-6 (US)
Gauge: 6 stitches per inch using size 5 (US) needles
Fiber care: Yarn is pre-washed. Finished projects hand wash warm with low agitation, lay flat to dry or dry clean. Machine washing on gentle with cold water may shrink item moderately, but it will not felt .
